Bukit Lawang

Bukit Lawang is a tourist spot in Bohorok DIstrict, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. Situated 68 KM northwest of Binjai City and 80 northwest of Medan, the capital city of North Sumatra, Indonesia. Bukit Lawang is included in the scope of the Gunung Leuser National Park that is introspective areas of orangutan conservation.

Gunung Leuser National Park was established in 1980 as one of the first five national parks in Indonesia. Gunung Leuser National Park is a national park covering 7,927 km2 in northern Sumatra, Indonesia, straddling the border of North Sumatra and Aceh provinces,

About Sumatran Orangutan

Sumatran orangutans are the most endangered orangutan among the 2 orangutan species in Indonesia. There are 13 areas of orangutan population in Sumatra, and there are probably only 3 population areas that have 500 members and 7 other areas of approximately 250 remaining members in its population.

Physical characteristics
1. Orangutan coloration can vary greatly between dark—brown and pale reddish—orange but is most often reddish—orange in color.
2. The Sumatran orangutan has a longer cheek pouch on male orangutans, its body length is around 1.25 -1.5 m.
3. Adult males weigh between 50 to 90 kg (110—198 lb.) and can stand between 1.25 to 1.5 m (4.1—5 ft.) in height.
4. Adult females weigh between 30 to 50 kg (66—110 lb.) and stand about one m (3.3 ft.) in height.

Tangkahan

Tangkahan is a hidden paradise in Leuser. Located in the village of Namo Sialang, Batang Serangan Langkat North Sumatra with an area of around 17,000 hectares. The existence of Participatory Patrols using elephants makes Tangkahan a tourist destination favored by local and foreign tourists.
They come to Tangkahan to see elephants, bathe elephants and enjoy unique hotspring on the edge of the Tangkahan river. Tangkahan is one of the places that must be visited if you come to Bukit Lawang, only two hours of driving and you will arrive on the other side of heaven in Sumatra.

Berastagi

Berastagi is a sub-district in Karo Regency, North Sumatra. Berastagi is the second largest city in the karo highlands after Kabanjahe City. Berastagi is one of the popular tourist cities in North Sumatra. Berastagi is about 66 kilometers from the city of Medan. Berastagi is flanked by 2 active volcanoes namely Mount Sibayak and Mount Sinabung. Near Sibayak Mountain, there is a hot spring bath. Berastagi itself is at an altitude of more than 1300 masl, making it one of the coldest cities in Indonesia.

Economic activities in Berastagi are centered on vegetable production, fruits and tourism. Berastagi is one of the largest producers of vegetables and fruits in North Sumatra. Even already exported to Singapore and Malaysia. Ethnicity which is dominant in this area is the Karo tribe, and communicates with the Karo language, the gugung dialect.

Lake Toba

Lake Toba in Sumatra, Indonesia, is the largest volcanic lake in the world, and also one of the best places in Asia to relax for a few days or longer. Lake Toba is a large natural lake in Indonesia occupying the caldera of a supervolcano. The lake is about 100 kilometres (62 miles) long, 30 kilometres (19 mi) wide, and up to 505 metres (1,657 ft) deep. Located in the middle of the northern part of the Indonesian island of Sumatra, with a surface elevation of about 900 metres (2,953 ft)
